What a day!

So today’s blog post is a bit on the late side, but honestly I’m quite impressed with myself to have one up at all.  I had another one in the works, but it will save until next week.  For now, I’ve just got a brief one for you.

The last couple of days have been a bit nutty.  Yesterday I was sick.  I was miserable and mostly slept the whole day.  This morning I made a trip to the doctor to fork over my co-pay and make sure it is indeed just a virus.  Yep.  It is.  But, I’ve got some stuff going on over the next few days and wanted to be sure if it was something more I got medicine.

The camera motivated him to raise his head a bit, but this is the sad pooch that is at my house right now. Poor little guy!

I wasn’t alone in my misery yesterday.  Our poor dog, Buckles, also started feeling bad.  At first we thought it might be his stomach.  He’s a Lhasa Apso and they have sensitive tummies.  In fact, we buy him specially formulated food for sensitive dog stomachs, monitor his treats and never give him table scraps.  Even with all that, he still sometimes has issues.  But, as time went by, he got worse to the point he literally wouldn’t move.  He wouldn’t eat, drink or even go outside no matter what we tried.  He just laid there and sometimes trembled.  It was sad.  We called the vet after hours for advice.  He went over a few things with us, told us to make sure he didn’t have trouble breathing and bring him in today.

So, we did that.  Turns out the poor guy has a sprained back.  He got a cortisone shot and some medicine to take over the next couple of weeks.  We’re glad to know what’s going on with him and that it’s nothing more serious (we had scary thoughts of bowel obstructions, failing kidneys and arthritis), but it’s also hard to see our usually lively little guy barely raising his head or moving around.

Needless to say, I’ve been a bit distracted these last couple of days.  For now, I’m looking forward to an afternoon of being awake and getting a few things done.  And then maybe resting again before picking up the kiddo from the fun she’s been having with my in-laws today.  Here’s hoping for a better tomorrow!
