Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

When I was a kid, I remember my mom teasing us that we must sleep in green pajamas on St. Patrick’s Day Eve or else we could get pinched in the morning.  Since I had my own kiddo, I’ve made sure to put her in green pajamas even though I’d not pinch a baby.  This year, however, is the first year that she’s old enough to really understand and get into St. Patrick’s Day.  The day is only halfway over and it’s been fun!

Thanks to a warm front that is striking most of the Midwest right now (highs in the 80s!), she ended up in a Minnie Mouse nightgown last night that shows green grass across the bottom.  When she got up today, I decked her out in all her St. Patrick’s Day gear that came courtesy of my mother-in-law.  Our last name is Shannon.  We’re sort of obligated to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  Lexiana was super excited to put it all on.  I had planned to stick a long-sleeved T-Shirt beneath her shirt, but the weather is too warm for that.  I also scrambled to figure out a green short-sleeved shirt.  Short sleeves on St. Patrick’s Day don’t happen much around here.

Part of our day has included making green cupcakes with green icing.  They are vanilla, but we used some food coloring.  Then we moved on to a photo shoot in the backyard and lunch out with my in-laws (to which we drove in our Jeep with the top down).  After the kiddo rests through nap time and we have some dinner, we’re headed downtown to a parade.  I’m not sure it will be anything special, but it will be her first in-person parade and I’m looking forward to it.  She’s love watching them on television.  She STILL talks about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade occasionally.

From our family to yours, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
