Pajama day!

Sometimes you just need a pajama day.  Well, I do at least.  I guess I shouldn’t assume that everyone else is like me.  Yesterday was one such day.  We’d had our two days of rummage sale (which went very well, by the way — we are still happily married), and we were all worn out.  Even the kiddo was feeling low-key.  So, we stayed in our pajamas and decided to have a quiet morning and afternoon then go to church for special services last night instead.  (Judge away if you want.)

The kiddo snuggled beside me under my blanket yesterday to watch Mickey Mouse.

It was the exact thing that I needed.  I’ve mentioned it before, but I am definitely an introvert.  I draw energy from being alone.  Interestingly enough, that alone time now includes my husband and daughter.  To me, that counts as alone time because I am 100 percent comfortable with both of them.  I knew that I’d not be able to face another week without some down time.  I needed to just be.

And yesterday, we did just that.  The kiddo and I stayed in our PJs until she woke up from her nap around 3:30 p.m.  We played on the floor, we snuggled on the loveseat, we watched an episode of “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” we fed baby dolls, we played with her alphabet train, she scooted on her horse and we ate breakfast and lunch.  It was nice.  When she went down for a nap, my husband played a video game while I read a book for a few minutes before taking my own nap.  It was very nice.

Our dog, Buckles, dozing on my husband.

Even the dog got in on the action.  While my husband dozed during “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” Buckles happily slept on his legs.  He was worn out as well.

We were all better off for our day of rest.  The day concluded with a great service at church.  It was worth getting dressed and leaving the house for.  In fact, we’ll head back today for additional services.  I feel much more ready to face this week after a day of rest.  Ahhhh.
