Love from the kiddos

At 6 a.m. today, I was standing in my backyard in my snow boots and pajamas so my dog could take care of his business.  Last night a snowstorm moved in, and it is continuing this morning.  With high winds and blowing snow, Buckles wasn’t a fan of going outside by himself.  Sometimes he’s brave; sometimes he need reassurance.  This morning he needed reassurance.  So, I walked outside with him.  And I didn’t mind one bit.  Let me tell you why.

It goes back to last night.  I’m not feeling well right now.  My husband brought dinner home for us and then shortly thereafter, I was almost falling asleep on the couch.  With a toddler, that’s not very feasible.  My husband directed me to the bedroom to get a proper nap.

When I emerged an hour and 15 minutes later, Buckles was waiting just outside the bedroom door and jumped all over me in excitement to see me.  I could hear Lexiana in the living room stop playing with my husband and say, “Mommy!  Mommy!”  My kiddos (yes, I consider Buckles a kiddo) were so happy to see me back after such a short time.  It was quite the ego boost.

While I will do anything to take care of them regardless, moments like these are what makes it all completely worth it.  This is why I don’t mind standing outside with Buckles in the snow at 6 a.m.  This is why I don’t mind listening to Dance Star Mickey singing 10 times in a row.  Who could ask for more?
